Reviews of Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn)
Sharajah Fort is one of Sharjah's historical places to visit with family. Currently, the entry is free for all, till june as i know from the security. RTA parking is available on the outside as all-day parking, including holidays. Entry is located where the cannons are placed, and some sort of fancy items can be purchased from the office. There is lot's of rooms with different items that are placed to visit. Open area is placed for watching the shows and photos, and custom arabic costumes for men and women are available there to take photos. 1st floor has some more rooms to visit taking photos. All the rooms are air conditined.
All Sharjah history at on center the heart of Sharjah.. the museum is kind of located in a place where it can less be recognized but the good old structures are a realistic impression that something more valuable is kept inside there
Beautiful and historical place to visit in Sharjah! Great to learn a little bit about the UAE!
It shows the history of sharjah and leaders sing long time ago..well arranged and well showing for everything including documents of emirates uniting, old weapons
Well maintained.
Easily commutable.

Very nice place which have a strong connection with the history of UAE and is well maintained as it is

Need to take ticket.. Staffs are very kind they will help to explain the history related to this place.. 👍👏
Great historical place. No more to see. But worthy to know..
We can see a lot of information about civilization of past that how they lived in UAE. An historical fort turned into Museum and very well maintaining too. Feeling very anxious after watching all the stuff stored including weapons, wall fixtures about old maps and city construction and much more. Thanks to Sharjah Museum for sharing a lot of information to us.
I visited this museum recently in 2015 and it's one of the most beautiful museums I've ever visited in my life !! it tells the story of early Sharjah and it takes you back to 1942 and makes you live that era as if it's for real !! the facilities are excellent and their guides and staff are so kind and helpful !! I'm going to visit it again with my family soon !! Probably one of the best museums in the area. Lot of information, lot of objects, lot of hi-tech illustrations and good lighting. If you want to become knowledgeable about the area of Sharjah and its history, you'll enter basically a history book. As a history buff, you will enjoy it. If you are more on the shallow side, you'll be out in 10 minutes.
A nice little fort that has been reconstructed and different sections have been set up to depict different aspects of the lifestyle and usage of the fort by its occupants during various periods of time. The figure of a prisoner in the very first section is amazingly human-like.
Nice place to go with family, kids, or friend. There are a lot of things inside the building. It will show and give us information about the history of the place. There are some rooms, miniatures, weapons, pictures, etc. Also we can go to the tower to see the city from the top. The place is well order, clean, and big too. The staff are so kind too. Better take the package ticket for 5 museums. So after from here, we can go to another museums around this fort.
Different look of sharjah and arabian culture
It is old jail in Sharjah and it is a icon building by it self. There is tickets for only 10 dirham's and there is much to see in fort it is so cool to see what is inside of fort or jail. There is big amount of archaeological and historical items in inside of it it's good place if u are a history fan of thing's.
a bite of history of Sharjah and UAE maintained beautifully and kept untouched bang in the middle of city. a must visit for history buffs.
This was a great place you can walk around to learn about the history of Sharjah and there’s a place to sit and rest cost for a ticket per person is 10 AED, if you want to see the other 3 nearby museums it is 15 AED. Its not crowded so if you’re looking for solitude this place is for you.
Very nice renovation of this fort.
This museum is worth visiting.
Like every fort of old times , the Sharjah fort also gives a historical look. It's in Rolla area of Sharjah. Walls of Sharjah seem to be fresh and new.
Over here in Sharjah AL Hisn Fort Museum we can explore the historic landmark to learn about the modern history of Sharjah, the ruling family, the history of the fort, the historic defence strategies and Sharjah’s day-to-day life 196 years ago.
As you explore the rooms of the fort, you will come across a wide collection of photographs and archaeological artifacts.
History of sharjah well explained
It had a cute and authentic look for the photo shoot, but I couldn't visit it because I was late. It is among the places I will go again because seeing historical things makes me happy.
Wonderful place to visit. Nice air conditioning throughout the museum. Very low cost to get in. I purchased tickets to all the museums in the area for 5AED each.
Small place pretty disappointed if I was tourist it's fine but for me it's just meh
Excellent place to learn about Sharjah's history. The fort was the residence of the previous rulers of Sharjah. Completely restored.
What a charming little museum in the heart of Sharjah's Rolla district!
Perhaps it's the fact that it's a hidden gem in a place you normally associate with Asian textile shopping, perhaps it's the unexpected open space, but this is a museum that is well worth the AED 10 entry fee (5 for kids) in the midst of your Rolla shopping trip, providing interesting nougats of information about the Qawasim people and their lifestyles.
At the end of your visit, you are invited to a complimentary cup of traditional 'kahwah' (coffee) or tea as well, making this a well worth trip
A natural building museum among concrete buildings in Sharjah. This will give you a glimpse into the oldest memories of your visit.
During Ramadan of 2023 the timings are from 9am till 2pm and from 9pm till 11pm and for the last 10 days of Ramadan the place will be open only from 9am till 2pm (11 April till 20 April)
Fantastic piece of history and absolutely worth the visit. Cost 10 AED to enter (or 20 AED for 4 tickets to different historical places)
Greate place to gather knowledge about the history of UAE.

The Sharjah Fort Museum shows the history of the Sharjah Fort and how the life of the Ruler of Sharjah was with his family at that time inside the fort and the rooms designated for the trial and arrest of the accused at that time and how the relatives of the detainees could watch them through two windows from outside the fort. I would like to thank the government of Sharjah for its interest in this historical fort and all the other museums. I would also like to thank the sisters working at the reception for their warm reception and for one of them to give me a brief overview of the fort.
Entrance tickets are 10 dirhams, and parking around the fort is two dirhams per hour and five dirhams for two hours.
One of the best museums in Sharjah
Entrance is only 10 dirhams.
Gorgeous place
You will learn a lot of new and interesting things about the history of Sharjah and more
Traditions, life, archetype
Everything is very interesting
Highly recommend
This fort has an interesting history, from the time of the English to modern times, including coups d'état. Rebuilt in 1997, it has photographs, weapons and even the Sheikh's quarters on display. Interesting.
I wasn't very impressed with this museum. The outside seemed more interesting than the inside. The area is small, there are rooms with separate exhibits, some on the lower level, some upstairs. Entrance 10 dirhams.
It was interesting to come in for an hour and see the restored fort, with several educational exhibitions. There are not very many exhibits. Paid parking in the area, 2 dirhams per hour
The wind tower is so cute ~ It is the prototype of the air conditioner in the past
For one time it's completely normal.
There would be more exhibits, but it’s so interesting.
It was built in 1820 AD during the rule of Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi. It is a large fortified building with three towers: the Al-Kays Tower, the Mahlousa Tower, and the Murabba Mushrif Tower. On the left side there is a semi-dome that was used for guarding and monitoring the city in the past. The fort had an external wall more than 4 meters high and its thickness ranged from 50 to 200 cm.
The fort consists of two floors with many rooms, and the facade is a group of windows on two levels at the bottom and the top, which were made of wood, with copper bars.
The fort was dyed white, and its area was estimated at about 1,000 square metres.
In building the fort, raw materials were used that were not entirely local; But some of them were imported from abroad. Local and foreign workers worked on the construction project.
The fort has two gates. The first (main) gate is the Darwaza, which is made of precious Indian wood called sisim wood. It is 287 cm high and 182 cm wide. This gate leads to the first part of the fort and the first inner courtyard, in which the ruler sits facing the subjects on the bench. On the western side is the detention room, and on the eastern side is another gate, “Al-Sabah”. It is the gate to the second part of the fort, and it leads to a small courtyard that leads to the Mahlousa Tower (ground floor), which is the prison. Then a narrow corridor leads to the (coffee shop) corner.
There is a small, broken entrance, blocked by a building curtain called (Al-Rada), which connects to the corridor of the weapons storeroom, and blocks the administrative sections of the fort from the family residence.
The fort was removed in 1969 AD, rebuilt in 1996 AD, opened in 1997 AD, and restored in 2013 and 2014 AD.
